Serafina, through its ambiance, the style, the quality, and everything from the scratch to the wood-burnt pizzas, goes on to give full and complete justice to this humble word "finesse"

Tried and tested through ages, Serafina has woven its long journey from NYC all the way to opening their latest branch in Mumbai and the stuff, as the inhabitants of the Big Apple would say, is plain legendary!!

This being my first ever Zomato Meetup, Zomato couldn't have given me a better place to mark this big occasion. Starting with the usual,




Location:
Located in the prime area of Fort, Serafina is not an easy place to miss out especially if you are venturing out in the artistic lanes of Kala Ghoda. Address in the link below.

Ambiance:
Exemplary! Minutest details have been taken into consideration while making this restaurant into grandeur. With a mezzanine floor and a sculpture made entirely out of bottles, the highlight of this place is the mighty open oven right in the public view. Imported all the way from Napoli, Italy, this mammoth of an oven is there for all the patrons to see what goes into making their crispy pizzas.

Food:
The Italians might have never set a foot in the holy lands of India, but their cuisine is without doubt, making waves here in India. Pick up a random kid belonging to this generation and ask him if he knows what a Pizza or a Pasta is? Chances are you might find his eyes contracting in pleasure as he recalls that nostalgic moment he indulged in this Italian fare. Chances again are, that he might be running home after this asking his parents to give a call to those Pizza Hut and Domino's and get delivered home those fresh piping hot Pizzas.
We Indians have a curious habit, that to make everything Indianized. We cannot bear them to be authentic real. We need spice, we need masala. I can go as far as saying that the original phrase, "Variety is the spice of Life" was definitely created keeping a common Indian man in mind.
But what if I tell you in the heartland of Mumbai, in the very streets which uphold the Indian culture, there exists a restaurant which is here to show you what authentic Italian tastes like? This is where Serafina comes into picture. Here's a lowdown on the amazing dishes showcased for the day:






1. Potato & Leek Soup(INR 250++): Potato in a soup?? ARE YOU SERIOUS??? That might be the reaction you'd be thinking when you look up at this entry in the menu. But catching us off-guard, Serafina shows how Potato can give equal competition to the traditional Tomato and Manchow in the Soup department.













 
 2. Potato Involtini(INR 375++): H-I-G-H-L-I-G-H-T of the day!!! Baby potatoes roasted perfectly and dipped in a creamy fondue sauce lightly sprinkled with caramelized garlic, says the tiny font placard at the base of this dish. Who knew that such simple words could conjure a dish that we could barely dream of? This dish will instantly take you into dream lands of food orgasm.





3. Penne Alla Vodka(INR 675++): Guys are bonkers for girls and alcohol, a very common and true concept. Vodka was enough to make us order this dish. While the orange textured pasta did have a distinct flavor with a very faint taste of Vodka, we wished it could be just a little better.

4. Farafalle Al Pesto(INR 625++): This was a slight better upgrade to the previous. A decent outing.

5. Ravioli Alla Salvia(INR 595++): Personally, I am a big fan of Ravioli, a stuffed version of Pasta. Dripped in butter and delectable in taste. This was definitely the "Pasta of the day"
6. Melanzane Speziatta(INR 625++): What if I'd tell you that I shall be putting "baigan" as a topping on your pizza? I'd be reprimanded with large number of scowls and perhaps a few swear words as well. Well, Serafina played safe and didn't mention this. Good they didn't because if we had missed out on this amazing pizza, I'd have been cursing myself for life. The eggplant wonderfully complimented the thin crust and the cheesy overflow of the pizza, taking us all by surprise.






7.Tartufo Nero(INR 1250++): Or as we can say the "Truffle wala pizza". Delectable!

























10. Chocolate Ganache Mousse Cake(INR 375++): Words would fail to do justice to this amazingly crafted masterpiece. With the "melt-in-mouth" chocolate burst and the delicate flavors disintegrating into your mouth, this was yet another highlight of the day.




Service:
Excellent! I think the servers here are made to believe that every guest that steps inside is from the bloodlines of the Royal family, because that's exactly how they treat you!



Value for Money:
Being a fine-dine, you cannot expect to come here with a light pocket. But when it comes to value, you should know that you are paying every worth your penny.
